Ever
since its founding in 1932 in a building leased from the
Ford Motor Company, Lawrence Technological University
has asked its students to supplement what they learn in
the classroom and laboratory with practical, hands-on
experience. “Theory and Practice” is both the university’s
motto and teaching philosophy. So it’s not surprising
that student competitions have always been an important
part of the educational experience at Lawrence Tech.
The
Formula Zero competition fits well with Lawrence Tech’s
close relationship with the auto industry and its growing
involvement with alternative energy sources. Lawrence
Tech students have many opportunities to learn about the
latest developments in those two areas, both in and outside
the classroom, so they are well prepared to tackle the
challenges posed by Formula Zero.
