Linde E1 electric
kart earns entry in Guinness Book of Records
0 to 100
km/h in just 3.45 seconds – this was the new world record set
by the “Linde E1” electric kart from Linde Material Handling (Linde
MH) during the ADAC GT masters race held at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben
on the Easter weekend. By producing more acceleration than any
other electric vehicle in the world has ever done before, racing
driver Andreas Wolf launched the e-kart into the Guinness Book
of World Records. Linde Material Handling will be presenting its
Linde E1 electric kart at the international intralogistics trade
fair CeMAT, which starts in Hanover on 2nd May 2011. Based on
a racing chassis of kart class KZ 1&2 and equipped with standard
components that are also found in the new electric counterbalance
lift trucks Linde E20 to E50, the Linde E1 can leverage the full
power of Linde drive technology.

“Our E1 kart
has exactly the same ‘genes’ as our new series of electric lift
trucks: Its lift motor, power units, display, steering system
and software are identical with those installed in these e-trucks,”
says Eric Hock, engineer in charge of Electronic Engineering at
Linde MH, explaining the connection between Linde’s electric lift
trucks and the Linde e-kart.

With the development
of the Linde E1 electric kart, Linde Material Handling is staking
their claim to be the performance leader in the field of intralogistics/material
handling. For 40 years now, Linde MH has been developing electric
lift trucks and they can boast their own considerable expertise
in this field. Using this expertise, the company developed the
e-kart, which demonstrates Linde’s strength with regard to innovation,
economic efficiency, performance capability and the sustainable
use of resources. Naturally, there’s plenty of driving pleasure
to be had at the same time.
On 2nd and
3rd May 2011, the record racer is on display at the exhibition
stand of Linde Material Handling (Pavilion P32). “The acceleration
force of the Linde E1 is absolutely awesome. I can easily picture
myself working on an electric lift truck having the same technology
when I have finished my racing career!” record pilot Andreas Wolf
comments on his assignment for Linde Material Handling with a
twinkle in his eye.
